We developed Behaviour Bear to fulfil a critical need in early childhood education, where the significance of social and emotional growth for young children cannot be overstated. Our inspiration comes from noticing the exceptional commitment and enthusiasm shown by early years educators, who are responsible for nurturing and moulding the lives of young children. These educators are some of the most compassionate and amazing people you could encounter. Yet, they frequently find themselves overwhelmed with excessive stress in their daily work.
Throughout our experience and research, we've come to understand that this stress is often a result of several underlying challenges, including inadequate support for children's social and emotional development. We firmly believe that social and emotional development in early childhood is the foundation upon which all future learning and success is built. It affects not only a child's ability to form positive relationships but also their capacity to handle adversity, solve problems, and excel academically.
Many educators struggle with inconsistent approaches to children's social and emotional development within their teams. Some are uncertain about their job expectations, while others grapple with unnecessary administrative tasks. Moreover, the pressure to meet high expectations leaders or regulatory bodies set can further contribute to this stress.
Recognising these issues, we embarked on the journey to create Behaviour Bear. We aim to provide educators with a practical and effective solution to these challenges. By offering a structured and comprehensive social and emotional development program, we aim to empower educators. This not only reduces their stress levels but also enhances the quality of care and education they provide to children, ultimately ensuring that young learners have the best possible foundation for a successful future. In essence, Behaviour Bear has been developed to support both educators and children, creating a more harmonious and effective learning environment where educators can thrive in their roles and focus on what truly matters – the growth and well-being of the children they serve.
